Unlike smoking or vaping cannabis, edibles take longer to produce effects. Most people begin to feel them within 30–120 minutes, depending on metabolism, hydration, and whether food has been eaten beforehand.
Once they take effect, the experience may last 4–12 hours, which is significantly longer than inhaled cannabis. This happens because when THC is digested, the liver converts it into 11-Hydroxy-THC, a compound that can feel stronger and longer lasting than the Delta-9 THC absorbed through inhalation.
Everyone’s body processes edibles differently. Some people metabolize cannabinoids quickly, while others may feel weaker or inconsistent effects due to differences in liver enzymes. If you’ve ever felt that edibles didn’t affect you much, metabolism differences may be the reason.
Massachusetts Edible Limits
Massachusetts regulations set clear guidelines for edible cannabis products.
